SPRINGFIELD, OH (JULY 25, 2022) ─ The Board of Clark County Commissioners has issued the following statement regarding the death of Clark County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt Yates:
“July 24, 2022 was a dark day in Clark County. The Board of Clark County Commissioners is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Deputy Matthew Yates, who was killed in the line of duty on Sunday morning. Yates was a 15-year veteran of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, as well as a loving husband and father. Please keep Deputy Yates’ family and law enforcement brothers and sisters in your prayers as they continue to cope with this tragic event.”
Gov. Mike DeWine signed an order this morning for flags to fly at half-mast in honor of Clark County Deputy Matt Yates until his burial.
A memorial has been placed at Springfield City Hall plaza, 76 E. High Street, to allow Clark County residents to honor Deputy Yates for his service to our community.
