South Side in Bloom garden tour event to be held Saturday, July 30

South Side in Bloom flyer

SPRINGFIELD, OH (July 20, 2022) -- South Side in Bloom is a free event that gives you the opportunity to tour nine community gardens and neighborhood parks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30.

The tour spotlights ongoing efforts to renew, repurpose, and revitalize places on the South Side of Springfield. Each site will be open for visitors during South Side in Bloom, with a variety of activities: gardening lessons, music, games, and lots of free fresh-grilled vegetables and other treats. Mainly, the tour allows you to see some hidden gems --areas that had been abandoned or declining but have been turned into productive gardens, places of learning, recreation spots, or simply places of beauty.

Printed guides will be available at each site on tour day, so if you get to one spot, you can follow the map and/or your GPS to other places from there.

The Keep Clark County Beautiful Sunflower Field, 500 West Grand Avenue, is being featured as part of the tour. It will include free sunflower giveaways and activities, as well as tours of the Community Cleanup Trailer.

The event is sponsored by the City of Springfield, Clark County Combined Health District, Clark County Solid Waste District, Community Health Foundation and the Turner Foundation.
