SPRINGFIELD, OH (July 29, 2021) – The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is increasing staffing levels at the Clark County Fair due to recent acts of violence along the midway.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Clark County Agricultural Society are working together to ensure safety at the fairgrounds, which has seen record-high attendance during the Clark County Fair. The fair has experienced an uptick in large groups of juveniles that have shown aggressive behavior to the public.

Law enforcement staffing levels have been increased due to attendance numbers. The Sheriff’s Office has received mutual aid from the Springfield Police Division, South Vienna Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Ag Society has also increased lighting at the fairgrounds to increase visibility along the midway.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Clark County Emergency Management Agency are asking fairgrounds visitors to remain vigilant at all times, including walking together in groups to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

For more information, call Major Andy Reynolds of the Clark County Sheriff’s Uniform Patrol Division at 937-521-2052 or e-mail areynolds@clarkcountyohio.gov.
