Springfield-Clark County TCC to host CarFit event
SPRINGFIELD, OH (Aug. 6, 2018) – The Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee is hosting an event to ensure residents are properly secured in their vehicles.
A CarFit event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Clark County Fairgrounds, 4401 S. Charleton Pike, Springfield. CarFit is a community-based program that provides the opportunity to assess how safely drivers are positioned within their vehicle and to relay safety information in a positive way.
The primary purpose of CarFit is to convey safety information. It is not an evaluation. Therefore, the participant is not given a pass/fail message. The information shared is confidential, and no identifying information is given to law enforcement personnel or health care providers. The occupational therapist will share additional ideas with residents to enhance driver safety based only upon the results of the CarFit check-up. Each participant is provided resources and a copy of the checklist to review with family.
Clark County's event is hosted by the Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee in cooperation with Catholic Social Services-Miami Valley, the Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital Physical Therapy Department, AARP, AAA and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
The event is open to all residents from Clark County and surrounding counties. TCC suggests making an appointment for the event by calling (937)521-2132, but is not required to participate.
“We are pleased to collaborate with so many wonderful organizations in hosting this safety event for the very first time in Clark County. TCC would also like to thank the Clark County Fairgrounds and the Clark County Engineer's Office for their assistance in making this event possible,” TCC Transportation Planner Glen Massie said.
