Springfield-Clark County TCC to promote cycling safety at KidsFest

SPRINGFIELD, OH (JUNE 13, 2018) – The Clark County-Springfield Transportation Coordinating Committee will give away 400 bicycle helmets to children ages 3 through 16 to encourage cycling safety this weekend.

The giveaway will be held during the Springfield Summer Arts Festival's KidsFest event from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 17. The event is located at the Springfield Museum of Art, 107 Cliff Park Road.

“We take cycling safety very seriously,” TCC Transportation Planner Glen Massie said. “We’re trying to promote a culture, beginning with young people, of practicing safe cycling measures. These measures include properly fit helmets, bright clothing and adequate bike lighting.”

The helmets are first come, first serve, and available while supplies last.

The helmets are available in a variety of sizes designed to fit children from toddler through high school ages.

The Springfield Police Division and cycling advocates, Bike Springfield, will also assist with the event. The group will be fitting helmets to make sure children are properly protected.
