About the Dog Warden's Office

The Clark County Dog Warden's Office enforce state dog laws and ensure public safety by patrolling the county for stray dogs and impound those that are not wearing current licenses. The office also answers calls concerning dangerous and vicious dogs. We take pride in our ability to keep the public safe while ensuring the dogs are taken care of humanely. In 2020, Dog Wardens brought in more than 780 dogs, reuniting more than 170 dogs back with their owners and adopting 260 dogs into new homes. The Dog Warden's Office also utilizes rescues and foster homes when possible; about 90 dogs were sent to rescues or foster homes.

Functions of the Clark County Dog Warden's Office include:

  • Investigation of cruelty and abandonment of dogs
  • Enforcing dog laws
  • Licensing dogs
  • Investigation of bites or attacks involving dogs
  • Public health and safety

About the Dog Shelter

The Clark County Dog Shelter at 5201 Urbana Road is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m.; closed Wednesday, Sundays and Holidays. Impound fees are $35 for the first day and $20 board for each additional day, if the dog has a current license. Current license is required and may be purchased if necessary at the time of redemption. Please call 937-521-2140 for more information.

Ohio Pet Fund
